The Northumberland National Park centre won a gold award at the North East England Tourism Awards.
Businesses including accommodation providers and tourist attractions across the region were recognised in the awards organised by One NorthEast, the regional development agency, and sponsored by Dickinson Dees.
Rothbury TIC in Church Street was named the region's Tourist Information Centre of the Year and now goes into the regional heats for the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.
The awards showcase the work undertaken by tourism providers achieving high standards in quality, performance and innovation.
As a thank you to its local community and partners, the TIC held a thank-you lunch party at the centre.
Manager Alison has worked for National Parks for 29 years. She said: "We are absolutely delighted. It is recognition of the hard work and dedication of the staff, and work from within the local community and partners.
"There has been a lot of investment in the centre and that has made a big difference.
"We can only be as effective as the input and support we get from the area's tourism businesses and partners, so it's quite right that they should share in this accolade."
Richard Vickery, tourism business development manager at One NorthEast, said: "There has been a very high standard of entries this year but the finalists demonstrated a real commitment to making North East England a great place to visit".
The TIC has also won silver in the Green Tourism Business Awards for implementing a number of criteria measuring the environmental sustainability of the business.
It was the only Green Tourism Business Scheme award given to a visitor centre and a local authority in the scheme's North East regional assessments this year.
Christine Brown, owner of The Old Manse in Chatton, was also a winner.
She picked up a gold award for bed and breakfast.
She said: "I am delighted to have won. The quality of entrants was extremely high and the competition was very stiff and I am just astounded."
