DETECTIVES in Alnwick are investigating the rape of a teenage girl.
Northumbria Police said the attack happened sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm last night (Sunday) in Springfield Park, in the area of the disused St Oswald's School.

The 15-year-old was making her way home when she was attacked by a man, believed to be around 18-20 years.

Police also want to trace two other men, possibly late teens to early 20s, who are believed to have been in the area at the time.

Detective Inspector Steve Wouldhave said: "This is a very rare offence, particularly for a quiet rural area such as Alnwick.

"People can be reassured that we are doing everything we can to trace those responsible for this attack.

"We need the public's help and would urge anyone with information to come forward."

Any witnesses, anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who has any information, should contact DS Margy Burdon at Alnwick CID on 03456 043 043 ext 61322.
