THE Alnwick in Bloom team has been restored to its former glory and has big plans for brightening up the town next year.
The committee last week held its first meeting since the Gazette saved it from folding in October because of a lack of members.
Tom Pattinson, committee chairman, said the meeting went "perfectly" and left him with lots of hope for the future of the 23-year-old town tradition.
"We were so enthused by the injection of enthusiasm the new members have brought with them," he said. "There is a marvellous feeling that went through the whole meeting."
The committee now has someone to whip up donations and involvement from the town's businesses and a new venue for meetings, The Centre at Fenkle Street.
Mr Pattinson added: "We are not only now full of enthusiastic people, we are also in the place we should be – in the centre of Alnwick town for our meetings.
"We are having another meeting next week so we are determined now that people who have put their hands up to help are going to get something to do.
"We have gone from being out for the count to being up for the whole 15 rounds, as they say in boxing."
