OLDER people in Alnwick are being given the opportunity to try out free activities at a special event in the town next month.
A young at heart event is taking place at Willowburn Sports Centre as part of the FISHNETS (Fitness, Involvement, Safety and Health Networks) project.

Supported by Northumberland Care Trust and Active Alnwick, the day will provide a range of activities for older people to try including tai chi, pilates, salsa dancing and chair-based activities.

Helen Tomlinson, the care trust's health improvement practitioner specialist, said: "The day will provide the opportunity for older people to try out a number of activities.

"It will also give them the opportunity to look around displays and talk to health, leisure and welfare staff.

"We have selected activities that will cater for mixed abilities, and are also available in local community settings, to encourage continuation after the event."

The day takes place on Friday, May 16 from 10am to 3pm, is free of charge and a light buffet lunch will be available.

Anyone 50 years and over is encouraged to come along to the event.

For more details contact Helen Tomlinson on 01665 603411, ext 2031 or 0797 4080756.
