IMPROVEMENTS have been made to prevent flooding in Rothbury, the parish council heard.
Representatives from the Environment Agency told Rothbury parish councillors that upgrading work was done on the Coplish burn which runs through the village.
Parts of the burn have been replaced and new trash screens have been fitted to help prevent a build-up of debris.
The final stage of work to be completed is under Lindsay House in the village.
But the Environment Agency is waiting for the landowner to demolish a shop adjoining the house before they can gain access, which may take a few months.
On the River Coquet, the flood warning trigger for Rothbury village centre has been moved from Shilmoor to Alwinton to provide a better warning of flooding.
The Environment Agency wants to set up a Flood Warden Group in the village to act as a point of contact for the community.
The group would also work with local authorities and the agency to identify problem areas so better assistance can be provided to flooded residents in the future.
Councillors welcomed the scheme.
