Flash flooding hits Northumberland

SEVERE flooding hit Northumberland today (Saturday) with torrential rain cutting towns and villages off.
Rothbury was completely cut off by the floods, with the main road bridge being closed.

Morpeth Town Centre was cut off with a severe flood warning in force, and rivers expected to rise further this evening.

The village of Holystone was also cut off, with roads completely flooded.

South Road in Alnwick was closed, with water gushing out of drains, and the River Aln is also bursting its banks.

Felton has also been hit hard by persistent rain and flooding.
