End of an era

AN end of an era is looming for one of Alnwick's oldest shops.
The Gift Shop on Bondgate Within, is closing its doors at the end of September after 71 years.
The store, known for its collectables, china, glass and wide range of giftware and cards, is to cease trading in its present premises because of structural refurbishment work on the building.
Alex Eden and Sandra Greenley, who have run the shop for the past 14 years, said: "We would like to thank our many loyal customers.
"It has been much more than a shop. It has been more a way of life and our regular customers are almost like friends."
