THE Duke of Northumberland has withdrawn plans to build a three-home development in Rothbury.
Northumberland Estates planned to build three terraced houses with an access road and parking on land between Addycombe Gardens and Addycombe Crescent.

But the proposals met objections from villagers and the parish council.
Residents felt the application would open the floodgates for further developments in the village on Northumberland Estates' land.

They were also opposed to an access road being created joining the new Whitton View estate to Addycombe and said it would cause major traffic problems.

Northumberland county councillor Steven Bridgett, for Rothbury and Coquetdale, said: "I am pleased that it has been withdrawn. When I was going round speaking to the residents of Addycombe and Whitton View I didn't meet anyone who was in support of it.

"I just hope that we don't see another resurrection of this proposal in any way, shape or form in the future."
