Doctors on standby for severe weather

NORTHERN Doctors Urgent Care (NDUC) team is on standby tonight after the prediction of heavy snow and treacherous travelling conditions.
A specialist team of 4x4 drivers is on call to deal with emergencies tongiht making light work of hazardous road conditions.

Blizzards, heavy and drifting snow are predicted across Northumberland and motorists are being warned to take extra care.

Persistent and heavy snow is due this evening and over night, clearing tomorrow afternoon.

NDUC, which is commissioned by Primary Care Trusts to handle calls to doctors outside normal surgery hours, is on stand-by across the region

The service is provided by 4x4 Response North East (4x4RNE), a not-for-profit, volunteer based organisation contracted by NDUC to help in severe weather.

Patients in Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside needing GP assistance between 6.30pm and 8.00 am, weekdays, at weekends and bank holidays, should call 0845 60 80 320, to access the out-of-hours service.
