Crew called to sinking boat
SEAHOUSES lifeboat was called out to a sinking boat moored in Seahouses harbour.
Inshore lifeboat Peter Downes was launched with the salvage pump from the all-weather lifeboat to attend the 32ft fishing boat Madonna last Friday.
The boat had settled awkwardly on its port side and not lifted properly as the tide came in. Water flooded in, filling the hull.
The skipper discovered the problem during an early morning routine check.
Attempts to pump out the water were unsuccessful and a number of lifeboat crew tried to lift the vessel from its starboard side but this also failed.
All electronic equipment from the boat was salvaged as a precaution as the tide continued to rise.
The lifeboat crew went back to the boat as the tide fell to pump out the water, planning to refloat it with the next high tide.
