BUSINESS is back to normal on Amble's main shopping street, following the completion of gas works.
Traffic lights and diggers were in operation on Queen Street during March and April, causing a dip in passing trade according to local shopkeepers.
George Carnegie, of the Baby Shop, said: "We had four to five weeks of disruption, but the workers weren't there all the time.
"Together with the traffic lights, it had a really bad effect on Queen Street and the numbers of people walking up and down.
"We had a pretty good January and February, but March and April were really poor.
"We're glad the work is over and that things are getting back to normal."
