CHILDREN from schools across Alnwick proved they were a dab hand with a paint brush in the Alnwick in Bloom children's painting competition.
The work, from students at First, Middle and High Schools in Alnwick and Barndale Special School, was judged by Ian August, Alnwick Garden liaison director at a presentation evening at Alnwick Garden.

The winning paintings then went on display at the Garden last weekend, showcasing the pupils' talents to thousands of visitors.

Groups were ordered by age, winners were:

Group one (up to and including six-year-olds): 1 Ebony Kidd, St Michael's First School; 2 Mark Humphreys, St John's First School; 3 Brooke Draper, St Michael's First School; Highly commended, Ruth Jones, St John's First School.

Group two (ages seven and eight): 1 Paige Whittaker, St Michael's First School; 2 Charlie Page, St John's First School; Nathan Wass, Alnwick South First School; Highly commended, Ella Hemsley, St John's First School.

Group three (ages nine and 10): 1 Drew Gray, Lindisfarne Middle School; 2 Edward Brunton, Lindisfarne Middle School; 3 Daisy Hope, Alnwick South First School; Highly commended, Abbie Jeffries, St Michael's First School.

Group four (ages 11-13): 1 Rosalyn Browell, Lindisfarne Middle School; 2 Rachel McLean, Lindisfarne Middle School; 3 Celie Nicol, Lindisfarne Middle School; Highly commended, Vicky McDonagh, Thomas Percy Middle School.

Group six (special school pupils up to 12): 1 Connor Younger; 2 Daniel Lawton; 3 Curtis Austin; Highly commended, Louis Newbigging all from Barndale Special School.

Group seven (special school pupils aged 13-18): 1 Nichola Barber; 2 Nico Meertens; 3 Mateusz Michla; Highly commended Mark Hall, all from Barndale Special School.
