TWO holiday businesses in north Northumberland have been named among the best in Britain.
The Seafield Caravan Park at Seahouses and The Old Manse B&B at Chatton both collected silver awards at the 2008 Enjoy England Awards for Excellence.

The park received the gold award two years ago which prevented them from entering last year.

T
he park's Carolyn Britton, whose grandfather started the site in the 1950s, said: "In 2005, the Ocean Club had just opened and it was a huge thrill to win Gold.

"Since then, we have developed the services we provide in the Ocean Club and hope we have been recognised this time for going that extra mile for our guests and for regularly having new ideas which also involve the village.

"The Ocean Club has made Seafield Park a focus within the local community."

Christine Brown and Tony Lummis set up The Old Manse in 1996 and were delighted with the award.

Christine said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to bits as it is a very difficult accolade to achieve.

"We've been a regional finalist a couple of times before but never dreamed we could get as far as this.

"We are delighted that we have been able to put Northumberland on the map.

"It is the pinnacle of achievement."

The five star bed and breakfast, at New Road, has three bedrooms.
