A SPECIAL event is being held for the young at heart tomorrow.
It will give older folk the chance to try out a number of free activities as part of the FISHNETS (Fitness, Involvement, Safety and Health Networks) project.

Following the success of previous events in Alnwick, a fourth takes place at Willowburn S
ports and Leisure Centre from 10am to 3pm.

The project is supported by Northumberland Care Trust and Active Alnwick, Alnwick's sports and physical activity alliance.

The day will provide older people with the opportunity to try out a number of activities and look around displays while talking to health, leisure and welfare staff.

Activities on offer include tai chi, pilates, salsa dancing and chair-based exercises.

Helen Tomlinson, the care trust's health improvement practitioner specialist, said: "The day will provide the opportunity for older people to try out a number of activities.

"It will also give them the opportunity to look around displays and talk to health, leisure and welfare staff."

"We have selected activities that will cater for mixed abilities, and are also available in local community settings, to encourage continuation after the event."

The day is free and a light buffet lunch will be available. Anyone aged 50 and over is welcome.
