Members of Northumbria Police and the Tyne Detachment Royal Marines Reserve Scotland tackled a gruelling 30-mile charity challenge in Northumberland on Saturday.

The participants took on the fund-raiser wearing boots, combats and carrying 30lbs of equipment. The route started at Kirknewton and travelled along College Valley, Ingram Valley, and finished at Clennell Hall, at Alwinton. Ian McAllister, from Felton, was one of those to take part and said it was the hardest thing he had ever done. The groups went in teams, with both completing it in around ten-and-a-half hours.

The event was in aid of Care of Police Survivors and the Royal Marines Charity and raised more than £3,000.
