An Amble birthday girl will be marking her special day tomorrow by celebrating quietly at home with her family.
But perhaps that’s understandable as Connie Mossman, who has one child, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, is turning 107.
Connie was born in the harbour town in 1907 and has lived there most of her life. One of her earliest memories is seeing the troops marching down Queen Street before heading off to fight in the First World War, the start of which took place 100 years ago. The centenarian believes that Amble is changing for the better and thinks having more shops is great and that it’s still a wonderful place to live. Connie still enjoys going to play bingo every week. And anyone hoping for a longevity secret may be disappointed that Connie puts it down to eating healthily and lots of exercise.
