A devil of a show

REVIEW: The Crucible, performed by pupils from Alnwick’s Duchess’s Community High School, at Alnwick Playhouse, on Wednesday, November 7

The talented pupils from Alnwick’s Duchess’s Community High School gave a captivating performance of Arthur Miller’s classic play The Crucible.

Stepping out on the Alnwick Playhouse stage last night, for what was the opening evening of this three-night run, the pupils did justice to this enthralling tale of witchcraft and devilry.

Miller’s gripping work tells the story of how the small community of Salem are stirred into madness, superstition, paranoia and malice, culminating in a violent climax.

And once again, the students did the school proud with powerful and sparkling performances throughout the cast, with Jake Brook leading the way with his portrayal of main character John Proctor.

The show is being performed tonight and tomorrow, both 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8, conc £7, child/student £6 and are available by calling 01665 510785.
