The Crucible has arrived

The Duchess’s High School Senior Drama Group staged its first performance of The Crucible at the Alnwick Playhouse last night, sending members of the audience home with a lot to think about.

It was the first of three performances, with another scheduled for tonight and the final show coming tomorrow night, both at 7.30pm.

The students have been rehearsing since September.

The critically-acclaimed work written by American playwright Arthur Miller draws comparisons between two awful chapters in American history – the Salem witch hunt and trials of 1692 and McCarthyism in the 1950s.
