Review : James Calvert Spence College Christmas Review
Families and friends of students from both sites of James Calvert Spence College crammed into the hall at South Avenue to see students from Year 5 right up to Year 13 perform their Christmas review.
There was a massive variety of talent on display from body-popping to poetry and the students left no form of entertainment unturned and they even managed to squeeze in a pantomime.
We were told at the end that the whole production was hurried together in nine days but they still put together a performance that had everyone talking.
The proceedings were hosted by the compère Joe Miller, who lead the evening with a clear Geordie accent.
It started with a series of dance and singing acts with a notable mention for Emily Shotton, who sang a great cover of an Emeli Sandé song.
We then moved on to the panto which was put together by the Year 11 students and guest-starred English teacher Claire Percy as the flamboyant Geordie mother of Aladdin. Another notable mention should go to Dominic Taylor who played the sarcastic genie with the right tone and deliverance.
