The lads who are aiming to win

Newcastle/Northumberland based rock band

Newcastle/Northumberland based rock band "Cold Night For Crocodiles"

A Northumberland-based band, which is gearing up to perform in the grand final of a renowned music competition this weekend, insist they are ready to go and are confident of ‘turning some heads and raising some eyebrows’.

Cold Night for Crocodiles will play at the Live and Unsigned Grand National Final at The O2 in London on Saturday – fighting it out for the top prize, which includes a UK tour and five-figure cash boost.

The Crocs booked a spot at the showpiece event after battling it out in live heats across the country and beating thousands of other hopefuls.

And having come this far, the band is relishing the chance of performing at the world-famous venue, in front of an expected capacity crowd and celebrity and industry judges.

Band member Chris Dryden said: “We are looking forward to it. We have got something special up our sleeve for the final and I think we stand a chance of turning some heads and raising some eyebrows.

“The experience of performing at The O2 will be novel and it will be a great platform for us.”

Live and Unsigned is the biggest original music competition in the UK for unsigned bands and artists and is open to all genres of music.

Not only will the overall winner be crowned as the UK’s Best Live and Unsigned Act, but they will also bag a comprehensive package which includes an initial extensive winner’s publicity deal, an offer of a UK tour of up to 100 shows plus a festival tour, £10,000 cash to develop the act, and access to industry contacts.

This year’s competition also offers contestants an extra chance of exposure as it is being filmed for broadcasting on Sky TV in an exclusive fly-on-the-wall documentary.
