Fans of the four-stringed ukulele are being invited to a concert where the instrument will take centre stage.
A Ukemania is taking place tomorrow evening.
Singer and comedian George Formby was perhaps the UK’s most famous ukulele player, and there has been a resurgence of interest in the instrument in recent years, with artists like Mumford and Sons incorporating it into their songs.
Website Amazon has reported sales increases of 1,200 per cent in ukuleles so this concert hopes to tap into the trend and bring the crowds in.
The concert will be held at St Benedict’s Parish Centre in Devonworth Place, Cowpen, at 7pm. Strawberry and cream scones and tea or coffee will be served afterwards. For information call 01670 735036.
