Gazette reader Eileen Adam, from Alnwick, shared these photos, which feature her grandchildren among others and show a street party in the town’s Upper Barresdale.

The event took place for some sort of Royal or partriotic celebration, as suggested by the flags and cakes, but Mrs Adam was not sure which occasion, wedding or jubilee it was.

UPDATE: Paul Short, who writes a blog called Taste of the North, spotted himself in the main picture (the lad with the chequered shirt at the front) and, via Twitter (@TastetheNorth), he said the occasion was to celebrate VE Day and he believed it was the 50th anniversary, which would make it on and around May 8, 1995.

Can you name anyone else on the picture?
