A Seahouses pensioner with a head for heights plans to celebrate his 80th birthday with a charity parachute jump.
For Ben Beaumont, 79, of Southfield Avenue, the tandem parachute jump at Brunton Airfield on August 2 is a fitting way to raise money for his chosen charity Cancer Research and celebrate the big day all in one.
Ben’s determination to do the jump, irrespective of his advanced years, is made even more laudable as a year ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer himself.
Undaunted by the thought of jumping from a plane at 10,000 feet up, the plucky pensioner said he cannot wait to get airborne.
“The fact of the matter is I have had some marvellous birthdays through the years and I wanted to do something a bit special for my 80th,” he said.
