AT the recent AGM of the Friends of the Playhouse, I was delighted to report that we have some 2,000 Friends members.
Their invaluable support has enabled us to purchase much-needed equipment to enhance our wonderful community arts centre.
The Friends also continue to provide practical help by stewarding for performances and events held at the Playhouse.
The
Playhouse goes from strength to strength. The manager Vince Hope gave us a very upbeat assessment of the Playhouse and its activities.
During the period April to October this year, a staggering 40,000 people attended events at the Playhouse. This compared with 28,000 during the same period in 2006 and 27,000 last year.
The small but dedicated team of employees led by Vince continue to work tirelessly to make the Playhouse the success it is.
Vince reported on a well-balanced programme both past and future. The new spring programme will be published and distributed in December. We look forward to it with a sense of eager anticipation.
The Friends, supporters and patrons of the Playhouse appreciated how lucky we are to have such a first class, well-used facility on our doorstep.
