I AM writing to thank everyone who was concerned in making Lifeboat Day at Amble very successful. The weather was kind to us and everyone enjoyed themselves.
As usual, people and businesses in Amble were extremely generous with donations for raffles etc.
Coquet Children's Centre, Hadston, presented a cheque for £162.50 which they raised from a BBQ earlier. John Paul Stewart raised £155 with a sponsored
bicycle ride and Steve and Carol (two of Amble Lifeboat Fundraisers, ALF) gave up some of their holidays and did a sponsored walk from Berwick to Amble, raising over £800, half of which was donated to Amble Lifeboat.
I would also like to thank the Sea Cadets from Blyth, the Ceilidh Band from Coquet High School for giving up their time.
The helicopter from RAF Boulmer is always a great attraction – thank you to 202 Squadron and Ken Henderson (Coastguard), who gave a very interesting commentary during the exercise.
Finally, a really huge thank-you to all the members of ALF and their friends (some of whom were co-opted on the day) for their extremely hard work – we could not have done it without them.
Last, but certainly not least, to the crew. They are responsible for setting up Radcliffe Quay, putting up flags and bunting, taking part in the exercises on the lifeboats and numerous other tasks, then at the end of the day, taking everything down again. They are a great bunch of 'lads' and it is well worth raising money to help them do the job they do in helping others.

l BELL View Resource Centre on West Street in Belford would like to give a sincere thank-you to all who helped raise more than £600 at their summer fair. Well done everyone. Thanks also go to the live music provided by Heads on the Block, who performed their repertoire while dodging the weather in the new therapy garden.

l ON behalf of Boulmer Volunteer Rescue Service I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who supported our annual fund-raising event on August Bank Holiday Saturday.
Thankfully, the weather was kind to us (once again), and so far we have raised £4,000 with money still coming in.
I must thank all the people and businesses who donated prizes, goods or their time, and you, the generous public, for turning up on the day and donating your money. Without you all, we would not have had such a successful day.
On the same note, I would also like to thank everyone who sponsored Ruth and myself on our 140 miles coast-to-coast cycle challenge in June (with special thanks to our back-up team, Mike and Pete). We raised £808 and also thanks to the many visitors who came to our Saturday coffee mornings which have raised over £200.
It is only with your support and donations that we are able to "keep afloat" and help save lives on the North East coast. Thank you.

Crew Member and Secretary,
