WEEK eight has seen The Belford command a nine-point lead over Linden Hall after a good away win at Seahouses who have fallen off the pace after a good start to the season.
Linden Hall have a game in hand having not played this week and are still
in contention.
Rothbury had a hard fought draw away at Alnmouth Village and are not far off the pace.
The fixtures are piling up for some teams and all other matches were postponed this week with illness etc.
A special mention to Garrick Porteous, Eliott Wilson and Lewis Fairbairn, junior golfers of Bamburgh and Goswick, who all qualified for the county men's matchplay championships at Arcot Hall last week.
They made it to the last 16, which in itself is a fantastic performance beating many top golfers in the county.
Garrick made it to the semi-final narrowly losing 2-1 to D Smith and both Eliott and Lewis losing in the first round and third and two respectively to C Penny and A Minnikin.
Not only that but Goswick are also Northumberland county junior team champions following their win at Dunstanburgh Castle last month.
This shows that there is real talent among the juniors in north Northumberland – they are up there with the best.
Well done lads.
