WITH the greens now in excellent condition, partly due to his own hard work, it was part-time greenkeeper and past league player John Pentleton who pipped current league star Andrew Tate to first place in the Charity Tankard at the weekend.

It was a very closely-fought contest with only one point separating the first four places.

There are still a few tee times available for the Open Texas Scramble on Saturday, July 11, with £560-worth of prizes on offer and only £35 entry for a team of four. Telephone 01665 602632 to reserve your tee time.
