WarkworthTHE Old Tom Morris Links hosted a stableford competition last weekend and the category one golfers stayed at home, perhaps knowing what was to come. With the Castle Cup at stake Billy Lilburn pulled out the stops and brought his 'A' game on a glorious spring day.
A sparkling 45 points meant hello trophy, bye bye handicap and a new name for the honours boards. Alan Stewart was overcome with emulsion to finish second and put a gloss on his score of 43 points with his fine putting. That meant it was over and Dunn for Geoff alongside Mick Mossman in third place with 38 points, a credible score but just not enough at present.

Wooler SATURDAY saw the gents outing to Hawick, and on a glorious day Alistair Sharp took first place with a net 67 ahead of Barry Guthrie on 68 and Paul Stenhouse on 70. Trevor Crossman won the nearest pin.
Sunday saw many past captains return for a nine hole Texas Scramble.
The winners were Eileen Jeffrey, Kathleen Brydon, Gordon Wilson and Dave Hall.
