SALSA DATE: Howick WI's June meeting opened with the singing of Jerusalem after which Suzanne Hodgson read out last month's minutes.
Secretary Karen Jamieson dealt with the business, which included a domino drive on Thursday, October 8, at Humshaugh WI, with four interested members.

An invitation to a concert to be held in Howick church on June 28 was read out by one of the org
anisers Anne Johnstone. Tickets may be obtained from Howick Hall entrance kiosk.

President Winnie Banks invited members to put forward venues for our August outing, which culminated with Wallington Hall at Cambo.

Member Jeanette Archbold paid a visit to Jean Hendry, an old member who had recently been made a widow, taking with her flowers and a card with our condolences.

Jean would like to rejoin the WI and we would be pleased to welcome her back.

Chris Leadbitter introduced the evening's programme on Salsa dancing. Chris, who originates from South America, now lives in Bamburgh and teaches Latin American dancing.

This was a fun night, starting with gentle exercise then learning simple Salsa steps, onto the Samba, then onto a very fast Merengue. A few gentle stretches to finish and all members agreed they were ready for a cup of Yorkshire tea.

The competition was won by Winnie Banks; 2 Heather Lee; 3 Eileen Jerdon. The raffle winner was Suzanne Hodgson.
