THE Castle Field at Warkworth witnessed another run feast on Saturday featuring an opening partnership just five runs short of a double century and perhaps a club record.

Visitors Mitford won the toss and elected to bat on what proved an excellent
track.

Openers Mark Parrish and Mark Ellinor certainly found the conditions to their liking and took the score to 195 before Parrish was out for 115.

Ellinor was unbeaten on 88 when the innings closed at 262 for four after the allotted 45 overs.

The task proved beyond Warkworth who were 150 all out in reply, S Lawson and M Gaynor taking three wickets apiece.

Runs were also plentiful at Tillside where Andy Brown hit 112 in the home total of 252 against Rock.

The visitors took on the daunting challenge but fell 36 runs short.

It was a different story at Howick who beat Alnmouth and Lesbury by five wickets in a low-scoring match, the visitors being dispatched for a meagre 58.

Wooler coasted to an eight-wicket victory over Embleton, Andrew Aitchison claiming five for eight as the home side were dismissed for 52.

In the remaining fixture, an unbeaten 45 from Brian Thompson and three wickets apiece for Dan Patterson and Michael Thompson were plus points in Warenford's two-wicket win over Berwick.
