Christmas lights gallery

Here are a selection of images from the weekend when Beadnell, Longhoughton and Rothbury all held their Christmas lights switch-on events.

In Beadnell, it was the first year they had a switch-on. Despite very heavy rain all day Friday there was a dry spell between 6.15pm and 7.30 pm, just long enough for the switch-on by CounPat Scott followed by carol singing and festive fare of mince pies and mulled wine.

There was a crowd of more than 70 people even with the poor weather. The rain returned at 7.30 just as the event came to a close.

In Rothbury, Rev Michael Boag did the honours and there was a lantern procession from Townfoot up to the Market Place.

Meanwhile in Longhoughton it fell to the new vicar, Rev Ian MacKarill, and Sian Atkinson to flick the switch.

Pictures by Andrew Willmott (Longhoughton), Mary Scott (Rothbury) and Peter Jenkinson (Beadnell).
