HERE is a slideshow of just some of the action from a prestigious triathlon event which took place at Druridge Bay Country Park on Sunday.
More than 400 top athletes from across the country entered the British Triathlon National Standard Distance Triathlon Championships, which was won by Yorkshire athlete Philip Graves.

The White Rose Triathletes member completed the course – comprising a 1500m swim in the park's Ladyburn Lake, a seven lap, 40km cycle ride, and a 10K run around the lake – in a time of 1.49.17.

Sigma Sport's James Third was second in 1.51.55, while Thomas Sturdy, representing Loughborough Students, finished third in 1.53.40.

London Tri's Jill Parker won the women's race in 2.07.23, followed by Eimear Mullan, of Team Milton Keynes, in 2.08.22. Juliet Vickery, from Cambridge Triathlon Club, snatched the final podium place in 2:10.30.

Members of Alnwick Tri Club also took part.

The event was run by One Life – the largest triathlon club in the North East, in conjunction with the British Triathlon Federation, Culture Creative and Northumberland Sport.

Paul Jones, race organiser, said: "It was a great event and the competitors seemed to enjoy it and enjoy the course."
