SPECIAL fairy buns are to be sold across the North East in the run-up to Alnwick Food Festival to raise money for its chosen charity, the Toma Fund.
The buns, decorated with the Teenage Cancer Trust logo, will go on sale at 145 Greggs stores on Monday until Saturday, September 20 to raise funds to build a teenage cancer ward at Newcastle's RVI.

They will also mark the anniversary of the death of Jordan Thompson, who died on September 15, 2007, and for whom the Toma fund was set up in memory.

Jordan died of leukaemia and constantly battled to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust while receiving treatment at the RVI.

His family continued his legacy with the Toma fund after his death.

The buns will be sold for 30p, with 10p being donated to charity and will be sold in the Alnwick store throughout the food festival weekend.
Donation buckets will also be on counters in stores across the North East for the weekend.

The fourth Alnwick Food Festival is being held on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, aimed at promoting local food and drink and providing a showcase for food outlets, restaurants and chefs.
