ALNWICK will become the culinary capital of the country when the third food festival hits town this weekend.
Delicacies and delights from across the region will be on offer for visitors and locals alike to sample and buy as Alnwick Lions Club has packed the festival full of tasty treats.

The two-day festival on Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, September 23, will see a host of entertainment based on the theme of food and drink with the added factor of a beer festival, hosted by Alnwick and District Round Table.

The Market Place will see fresh and local produce go on sale with everything from locally-made ice- ream to Northumbrian meats, and stalls offering the opportunity to sample some of the offerings.

Demonstrations from local chefs can be seen in the Northumberland Hall, while the Town Hall will host a wine-tasting event, a bistro and WI competition.

In the Playhouse, young chefs will battle it out and celebrities will take to the hobs for a Ready Steady Cook-style contest. There will also be demonstrations from chocolatiers and chefs. And in the Pottergate Centre, community chef Mark Earnden will be demonstrating healthy living and cooking.

Alnwick Cricket Club will host the Alnwick Beer Festival on Friday night and Saturday, with food and entertainment also provided.
Throughout the weekend street entertainers will be wowing the crowds with comedy sketches, juggling skills and music.
