IN the coming months, I think we will be faced with an ever-increasing number of wind farm applications in this our green and pleasant county.
I was therefore shocked to read that npower renewables has lodged a formal claim in the High Court seeking an order that a planning policy or Alnwick Core Strategy Development Plan Document be quashed and the council pays its legal fees.
This has already been agreed by a Government inspector.
It should be fought but if the big boys of the power industry want to do so, which will be to their advantage if they win, they should be made to pay the costs if they win or lose.
Why should we the poor ratepayers cough up so that big business can make money if they are right?
It seems only fair that a properly-agreed document, in a democracy, should be upheld by the law. If not, why do we need councillors?
It would probably be too expensive if we were run by lawyers.
